I once scheduled a coffee meeting that I needed to cancel because a new client opportunity opportunity came up.
That was great news for me.
The gal I was meeting, however, didn’t quite see it that way.
She sent me a long winded note whining about how I was one of numerous people to cancel a meeting and that she was getting very frustrated in her networking. (By the way, don’t do that. There was a better way to handle it.)
Whether it’s in your own workplace, or in your community of professionals, you’re going to meet great people in your circle, and you’ll meet your share of mismatches.
And when they don’t, we have to break up. You know, the “It’s not you it’s me…” conversation. Take a look at this post on The Muse and see if you need to have an achy-breaky conversation with someone in your circle.
If you’re not sure, drop me a line and let me know the situation. I might have an idea that can help!
